I'm trying to learn Spanish by watching telenovelas. Please share your comments about the shows, too. I know I'm not the only English-speaking person who's hooked on telenovelas!

Heridas de Amor - Episode 18

Cesar told Nuria, "I will never abandon you and the baby. Better dead than far from you." (Personally I think he is planning to kill her.)

Gonzalo accused Julio of being a thief because Julio sold some property belonging to the business. Julio said he did it because the business needed the money. Gonzalo demanded, "Who did you sell it to?" and Julio said he doesn't know exactly, just a company in New York.

Cesar, eavesdropping on this conversation, said to himself, "Gonzalo has an Achilles' heel." (talon de Aquiles)

Gonzalo told Miranda that Florencia and Fabricio are returning from their honeymoon tomorrow and that Florencia is pregnant. Miranda said that Florencia must abort the baby to save her life, and Gonzalo said, "Florencia can't know she's dying. Tell me, what would you do in Florencia's place?" Miranda replied, "Have my baby."

Cesar told Miranda, "Gonzalo is paying high interest to Alejandro." Miranda, still suspicious of Alejandro, said, "I need a copy of the contract," and Cesar apparently agreed to get it for her.

Miranda asked about the company's stock market losses, saying, "Who is responsible for this?" Cesar said, "I have only a suspicion. We are talking of fraud," and said he thinks Julio is to blame. Miranda said, "That's why he wasn't at Florencia's wedding." Cesar said something about the "package of deeds" (stock shares?) Julio sold, adding, "The worst is we don't know who he sold them to."

Bertha bought a guard dog named Lucas. The servants and Renata commented that it's a dangerous breed known to attack people. The dog's trainer told Bertha it will respond only to her voice.

Gonzalo asked Alejandro, "What are your intentions toward my daughter?" Alejandro said he is attracted to Miranda but knows she loves Fabricio. Gonzalo said, "I don't want her to suffer. This is an opportunity for her to forget Fabricio."

Alejandro said something about business and Gonzalo took offense, saying, "Don't be confused. I am not selling my daughter." Alejandro said, "Nor am I buying." Gonzalo apologized, "Excuse me. The situation with the business has me very worried. Miranda is very special to me."

Two young men came into the office and Miranda greeted them. They are Julio's sons. The one who hugged Miranda is named Daniel. They went to see Gonzalo and, I think(?) asked for the money they invested with him. Gonzalo tried to put them off and they got angry, saying, "We trusted San Lorente Investments!"

Gonzalo snarled, "No one talks to me in this tone!" and kicked them out of his office, telling them, "First learn to be men!" (I think he can't give them their money because of the stock market losses.)

In the hall, Cesar approached Julio's sons, saying, "I need to talk to you in private. If you want to recover your money."

Pamela visited her mother in the hospital. The mother mumbled that she hears voices. Pamela told Fernanda, "This is why my father left us." Fernanda said Pamela's mother can't go home yet because a specialist wants to do tests.

Juan returned Renata's wallet (stolen by his brother Raul), and Renata screeched for the servants to call the police, calling Juan a delinquent. Tomasa said, "This is an injustice. The young man only came to do a favor." Juan told her that he works for the hospital and told her to look at his ID card for proof.

Renata looked at the card and sneered, "Juan Jimenez Garcia. A very distinguished family," then made fun of his address. Juan said something like, "I am from a poor family, but we work hard." Renata was rude but let him leave without calling the police.

Alejandro told Bertha, "I need the necklace you wore to the wedding." Bertha said flirtatiously, "In exchange for what?" Alejandro replied, "Whatever you want," and Bertha kissed him. Miranda saw them together and told Pamela, "That man is a hypocrite!"

Gonzalo told Fernanda he wants a divorce. She tore up the divorce papers. He asked, "What do you want?" and she replied, "Everything I lost. My daughters, my good name, my friends, my dreams. Do you have enough to pay for that?" Gonzalo said he wants her out of his life, and Fernanda said, "Killl me and you'll have two lives on your conscience!"
