Juan Querendon recap for Tuesday, October 16

Paula told Marely that Fernando saw her kissing Cesar Luis. Marely said, "Do you have to destroy Juan's heart? Bravo, congratulations!" Paula protested that she "felt bad" for Juan, and assured Marely he wouldn't lose his job as long as Pastor was working for Farell.

Cesar Luis apologized to Pastor for being aggressive earlier. "Friends, right?" He insisted that Pastor accept a whiskey, then asked in his smarmy casual way, "How did it go with Monica? I heard you went out with her for a little coffee."

Pastor said he asked Monica to protect him from Cesar Luis. CL insisted he wouldn't really have fired Pastor, who was his right hand. Pastor revealed that he hadn't told Monica the truth about CL and Paula.

Monica went home and told Chelo it seemed the attraction between CL and Paula was mutual. She said if she found out anything had happened between them, it would go very badly for CL and Paula.

Alirio bored CL with a report about his investigation (not mentioning the embezzlement, apparently). CL yelled at Alirio for interrupting him with his stupidities and ordered Alirio out of the office. As usual, everyone in the office heard the argument.

Fernando told Juan he'd told him how things were for his own good. Juan asked Fernando to promise not to talk about Paula anymore. Fernando agreed and they shook hands. Paula showed up and asked Juan to take her to a car lot so she could buy a car. (Of course she does this on company time. Why not.)

At the car lot, Juan got into the back seat with Paula and said, "You don't know what this relationship means for me. It's the most important thing that's happened in my life." Paula complained that he had made plans without consulting her (yes, what a jerk, bringing her breakfast without permission!!)

Juan said he could change if she asked him to. Paula said, "The problem isn't you. It's me." Juan said, "I love you. Doesn't that mean anything to you?" Paula said, "A lot. But the decision is made."

Later, as Paula talked to a car salesman, Juan puzzled over why she had led him on and then suddenly dropped him. On the way back to work, Juan told Paula he didn't feel like talking, thinking that he would give her some of her own medicine.

Alirio called Nidia and said he might quit his job. I didn't get Nidia's reply, but Alirio didn't like it.

Yadira showed up in the garage to see Enrique. He asked why she wouldn't leave him in peace anywhere he went. Yadira said, "I am pregnant. You are going to be a papa. Congratulations!" Enrique exclaimed, "How could you do this?" Yadira said "I didn't do it alone. Why don't we get married before we tell my mother." Enrique still wasn't happy, so Yadira stormed off. Fernando asked, "Problems?"

When Juan and Paula arrived back at the office, Juan didn't open the car door for Paula, just started reading a newspaper. Paula got in front the seat with him and complained about his attitude, saying it was typical macho infantile behavior. "I thought you were a special man, different from all the other men." She said he was making her very sad. (Oh, boo hoo!) She even said, "We had something very beautiful."

After she left, Enrique commented that he'd never seen Juan neglect to open the door for Paula before. Thinking that he had to save his image, Juan bragged that Paula had said she was "nothing without him," etc.

Gomez told Alirio he didn't get along with his accomplice so he would reveal who it was: Pastor Gaitan.

Paula complained to Marely that she hadn't expected Juan to react the way he did. She went into a dreamy trance, saying that Juan was the perfect man, then snapped out of it. This woman really is confused.

Juan told Enrique that he had an idea to get Paula back, but he didn't have much time. Enrique told Juan that Yadira is pregnant. He declared that he would never abandon his children, and said he'd always dreamed of being a papa, then looked distressed and added, "But Yadira is never going to change."

Yadira went home and told Nidia (who was in the bathtub) that she was pregnant. Nidia cried and said Yadira had done the worst possible thing to her, "You've made me into a grandmother! This can't be happening to me!"

Back at the garage, Juan made a phone call, then told Enrique he was going to serenade his beloved licenciada tonight. He showed Enrique a Pablo Montero CD.

When Cesar Luis and Paula left work, Juan observed the icy atmosphere between them and was relieved that he didn't have to worry about CL for a while.

Aliro met with Pastor and revealed that he knew Pastor had authorized the illicit transactions (or words to that effect). Pastor said, "You are accusing me!" Alirio said it was not only him, it was also Gomez.

When Juan reached Paula's house, he opened the car door for her, then asked if she would be home that night. Bowling-Ball Boobs said yes, she was tired and wouldn't be going anywhere. Juan was pleased that she would be there when he came back with Pablo Montero.

He and Enrique went to a hotel, wearing sunglasses. Juan put on some accent, Cuban I suppose, and asked the desk clerk for Pablo Montero. The clerk said Pablo was busy. Juan claimed he was Emilio Estefan (a musician, Gloria Estefan's husband). The clerk believed it and called Pablo's room. Before Juan and Enrique went upstairs, a woman saw them and told the desk clerk Juan wasn't Emilio Estefan. She called security.

Security guards chased Juan and Enrique through the halls upstairs. Somehow they made it to Pablo M.'s room. Pablo came in, dressed just like Emiliooo from "Duelo de Pasiones," including a cowboy hat. Juan tried to hug him, but Pablo wasn't buying it, so Juan introduced himself and said he'd told "a little lie in the cause of love. Only you can help me get back the love of my life!"

Before Pablo could answer, security guards ran in and pointed guns at Juan. This really is starting to seem like an episode of Duelo de Estupidos.

No recap from me tomorrow, but at Sylvia's request I will do one more, on Thursday.

Juan Querendon recap for Monday, October 15

Fernando told Enrique (using a lot of slang I didn't understand) that he saw Paula kissing Cesar Luis. Enrique thought Fernando was lying, but Fernando said he wouldn't invent a thing like that. They argued over who should tell Juan.

Monica told Paula she wanted to share the vicepresidency if it was OK with Paula. Paula called it an "excellent idea" and asked why Monica cared what Paula thought, since Monica owned the business. Monica said she had never believed in abusing her position. Paula said working together would be no problem.

Alirio told Pastor that several people were responsible for the embezzlement. Pastor looked very worried.

Cesar L. wanted to see Pastor, so Pastor went to his office. Cesar L. started his usual rambling about his problems with Monica and Paula, then asked if Pastor was listening. Pastor said no, sorry, he was worried about his own personal problems. Cesar L. berated Pastor, calling him a cretin and useless. Pastor completely blew his top, shouting at CL to stop insulting him. He said CL wasn't the only person with problems and feelings, and he didn't want to hear any more about Cesar L's romantic tragedies and delayed adolescence(!!)

After yelling at gawking coworkers to get back to work, Pastor went to his office and started packing up his possessions, telling Ivonne he was tired of being treated like a dog and blamed for all Cesar Luis's problems. He wouldn't give up his dignity for anyone. Ivonne told him to wait because Monica's new job at Farell would work out for the best. She said Pastor could help Monica, the "poor, deceived woman" because he had information that Monica didn't have. She reminded Pastor that Monica also owned the business and had the right to say who stayed and who went.

Pastor asked if he should tell Monica the whole truth (about Paula and Cesar Luis). Ivonne congratulated him for understanding, and said, "Monica has a reputation as a samaritan and savior, for me and for others."

Meanwhile Cesar Luis told Monica that Pastor's "hormones were acting up" and he was going to fire Pastor. Later Monica encountered Pastor and told him she was sorry because "employees like you, there aren't many." Pastor asked for 20 minutes of her time in "a more neutral place."

In the garage: Juan, looking distressed, told Enrique about Paula's rejection when he brought her breakfast. Juan said, "Women are never happy with what they have."

Enrique said he had something to tell Juan. "Your novia continues her amores with Cesar Luis." Furious, Juan started choking Enrique, demanding to know who told Enrique that. Finally he let Enrique go and Enrique said, "It was Fernando, pal. He saw them."

Juan immediately confronted Fernando. "Why are you making things up about my novia?" Fernando said it was true, "I saw and heard everything." Juan demanded details, so Fernando said, "I saw them in a tremendous kiss." Still furious, Juan asked if he was sure. Fernando said, "Very sure. I know what this means for you, Juan." Enrique tried to stop Juan, but Juan charged upstairs to confront Paula.

Paula told Marely that she thinks Monica is coming to work at Farell so she can keep an eye on Paula and Cesar Luis. Juan burst into Paula's office and said he had to speak to her. She tried to dismiss him, but he said, "No, it has to be right now!" and hurried Marely out. He asked Paula what was going on between her and Cesar Luis, "and I expect the absolute truth."

Paula refused to answer and said her relationship with Juan was over. (How convenient for her to have this excuse!)

They were briefly interrupted by Monica. After Monica left, Juan asked, "How can we be over?" Paula started crying and said their relationship "wasn't working" and said, "I'm very sorry". Juan grabbed her and demanded, "I'm very sorry?" Paula said, "I've always been an independent woman. My relationships are a disaster."

Juan said he respected her and he was sorry if he sometimes went too far. Paula said they just weren't compatible. Juan told her that someone had seen her with Cesar Luis. Paula screamed to know who it was. (Everyone in the outer office was listening to their argument.) Juan said, "It was just gossip," but finally identified Fernando. Paula the Idiot charged out to confront Fernando.

In the garage, Enrique and Fernando squabbled over whose fault it was that Enrique had told Juan the truth. Paula arrived and yelled at Fernando, "Who gave you permission to meddle in my life? You are a gossip, a little man!" She said more that I didn't catch but seemed to be threatening Fernando in some way.

After she left, Juan told Enrique, "Because of this animal" (ie Fernando) "I committed the greatest error of my life. She cut me off. It's over. Now what am I going to do?"

Meanwhile, Cesar Luis told Ivonne to prepare Pastor's severance papers. Ivonne teased him about Paula's argument with Juan, but Cesar Luis didn't want to hear about it. However, he was interested when Ivonne told him that Pastor had left the office with Monica. Ivonne mocked, "How strange; what are they going to talk about?"

At a restaurant, Monica told Pastor, "I'd like to help you, but it's very difficult. Cesar Luis is very upset with you." Pastor admitted that he'd been rude to Cesar Luis, but called it "a moment of weakness" and asked if it was fair to be "thrown out into the street like a dog" after so many years of work. He said if Monica helped him, he would do whatever she asked him to do.

Monica asked what was going on between Cesar Luis and Paula. Pastor said there was an office rumor that Paula was extremely attracted to Cesar Luis, but he didn't know if Cesar Luis shared the attraction. He offered to investigate. Monica said OK, and she in turn would help Pastor with his problem.

Back at the garage: Juan cried and told Enrique he'd gone through so much to win Paula, only to lose her over stupid gossip. Enrique said Paula didn't feel the same as he did. Juan said he couldn't accept the breakup. "Without this woman, I die. Please, give me a solution, please!"

I missed most of what Enrique said next, but Juan appeared to be listening to his advice. Enrique told Juan to "put the brakes on," and added, "You're blind. You can't see reality."

Paula stalked into Cesar L's office and said she had to talk to him seriously about his wife. She told him Monica was suspicious of them and was looking for information. Cesar Luis said, "You're paranoid." Paula called him an "expert liar" and said that wasn't an insult, just a description. She said she wasn't as experienced at lying and might end up telling Monica the truth.

Cesar Luis asked, "What if I tell her the truth?" Paula retorted, "Don't make me laugh. You're not enough of a man to do that."

Paula then told Marely she was going to buy a car, after all. Marely asked about Juan, and Paula said their relationship was over.

Juan Querendon recap for Friday, October 12

Juan told Paula he wants her to be the mother of his children, to be faithful to her for the rest of his life. "Do you feel the same, Paula?"

Paula said she didn't want to make an important decision about their relationship in such a short time. "Please give me time." Poor Juan hugged her and apologized. He offered to take her and Ana to the airport tomorrow. Paula agreed. Before leaving, Juan grabbed her and gave her a big kiss.

Yadira told Enrique she'd only been trying to make him jealous. Enrique said his relationship with Julia was over.

Alirio told Nidia he didn't want to sit at the same table with her and that degenerate Juan Dominguez.

At dinner (without Alirio), Enrique boasted to Nidia and the girls about the success of his and Juan's business. Nidia (wearing a tiara), said Enrique reminded her of Samuel. Juan came home and told the family, "My girlfriend couldn't come."

Paula claimed to Ana that Juan hadn't given her a chance to tell him the truth, she didn't want to hurt him, the usual excuses. Ana said, "Are you going to wait until you have children to tell him you don't really feel anything for him?" Paula said she would tell Juan after he took Ana to the airport tomorrow (yeah, right).

The next day: Enrique was getting ready to leave in his truck when Yadira appeared. Enrique asked what she was doing up and dressed at this hour, and on a Sunday, too. Yadira said she wanted to go to work with him, "I want to help you." Enrique refused and drove off without her.

Nidia told Marely that Ana said Paula was just using Juan. Marely said, "He's the only one who doesn't know." Nidia asked if Marely loved Juan. Marely said it didn't matter. Nidia said after Paula broke Juan's heart, Marely could comfort him. Marely said she didn't want to be anyone's consolation prize.

At the airport, Paula cried crocodile tears while saying goodbye to Ana. Juan impulsively hugged Ana.

Back at Ana's house, Paula told Juan she had to talk to him seriously. (She was wearing a tight, low-cut red blouse, the perfect outfit for breaking up with someone.) They sat down and she hemmed and hawed, saying, "I don't know how you're going to take this. This is harder than I thought."

Juan tried to cheer her up by inviting her to a fair, and told her how excited he'd been as a child by his village's annual fair. He would forget all his problems and sorrows there. Paula agreed to go with him for a little while. We get a montage of Juan and Paula having a predictably good time at the carnival.

Pastor dropped his mother off at church. Later, at a warehouse (or wherever Enrique works), Enrique saw Pastor's mother driving by in a taxi. He thought he must be imagining things.

Don Angarita (the guy who hired Enrique and Juan) questioned Enrique about Juan's absence (I think). Enrique said he was strong and could do the work himself (I think). After Don Angar when back inside, the thugs who threatened Juan yesterday showed up again.

Then Yadira showed up wearing very tiny shorts. Enrique tried to shield her from being seen by the thugs and told her to go home. Yadira whined, "Why? Let me help." The thugs surrounded them. Yadira said, "Enrique knows karate and judo!" The thugs laughed and the leader (named Chaflan, I think) said they would give Yadira a lesson in respect and "other little things."

Don Angar appeared and warned Chaflan to leave Enrique and Juan alone. Chaflan seemed intimidated. After the thugs left, Enrique introduced Yadira to Don Angar as his friend. Don Angar said he felt he'd met Yadira somewhere before. (He'll probably turn out to be an old boyfriend of Nidia's, maybe even Yadira's real father.)

Elsewhere: Guti was arrested while the surprised Alirio secretly watched. He went home and told Nidia that Guti would have the "syndrome of canaries." She asked what that was. He said, "They sing when they're locked up." Nidia called him neurotic, saying Guti wouldn't turn them in to the police just because Yadira rejected him.

Pastora returned to the church and found Pastor praying. He said he'd been worried about her. Pastora snapped that she'd been in the church's sacristy (I think) all along. She berated Pastor. He said he was having problems at the office, but got no sympathy from Mama.

At the carnival, Paula teased Juan to admit he'd been scared on the roller coaster. He finally admitted it. Paula laughed and thanked him for taking her to the fair, then said, "Ay, Juan, what am I going to do with you?" Juan said, "I want you to love me like I love you," and kissed her.

Back at the house, Paula said she couldn't remember what she had wanted to talk to Juan about, then said she wanted to be alone for awhile. Juan left.

On the phone, Paula told Ana she'd had a big talk with Juan, as promised. Does Paula ever tell the truth???

Juan finally showed up to help Enrique at work. Yadira posed in the background, reading a magazine.

Next day: Monica told Cesar Luis she was going to work with him, that she intends to work at Farell from now on. She will be the international commercial vice president, and Paula will be the national VP. Cesar Luis dutifully agreed. What a spineless couple he and Paula make.

Juan showed up at Paula's house early with a bag of baked goods. He made breakfast for her while she got dressed. Not pleased, Paula said (basically), "I appreciate everything you've done for me, but I lived alone in the U.S. for years and I'm used to doing things independently. I know you have the best intentions in the world, but don't do so much for me. I feel rushed." Juan said he understood and would wait for her in the car.

Fernando told Enrique that Monica is going to work for Farell and will complicate things for Juan. He asked Enrique how things are going between Juan and Paula. Enrique said, "Super well." Fernando said something about crude reality, then something else I didn't catch, but he must have revealed that he saw Paula and Cesar Luis kissing, because Enrique looked shocked.

Juan Querendon recap for Thursday, October 11

Again, this was written very quickly and I haven't edited it at all -- apologies for sloppiness.

Paula told Cesar Luis that Monica was suspicious because he had been acting strangely. She got a phone call from Juan and was affectionate to him because Cesar L. was listening. She agreed to go to Nidia's house for dinner.

Juan invited Enrique to dinner, too, saying Enrique was his soul brother and he wanted him there on such a special occasion.

Paula begged Ana to go with her to Nidia's house, but Ana refused because it would only give Juan more illusions.

Monica told Cesar Luis to stop acting like a victim because he wasn't one. She said she knew something must be going on because of the way CL was acting.

Alirio was trying to call Guti when Yadira wanted to use the phone. They had a shouting match and Nidia took Yadira's side. Alirio said he was leaving because he was tired of being treated this way. Nidia said, "The doors are open!"

Outside Alirio encountered Juan and told him he was leaving forever. "If you want to know more, ask the three wild animals who live here!"

Nidia told Juan that Alirio would be back soon, unfortunately. She and Yadira were happy to hear that Enrique was coming to dinner.

Juan decided to take a bath and left his room wearing a towel. He met Marely and told her his bathroom didn't have water (or something like that). He went to Nidia's room and asked to use her bathroom. Of course she offered to wash his back. He turned her down and locked himself into the bathroom. Nidia locked the bedroom door, had a drink, changed into a negligee, and called Juan.

Meanwhile Alirio returned, telling the girls he came to get his things. He yelled that he would never see them again etc.

Upstairs Juan tried to escape from Nidia. Naturally his towel fell off and Nidia got all goggle-eyed. He put the towel back on and again tried to escape. Nidia somehow managed to push him onto the bed just as Ailrio started knocking on the bedroom door and shouting for her to open it. Juan thought, "Now what I have I gotten myself into?"

Nidia tried to hide Juan under the bed covers, then in the closet but he said, "I don't fit." He begged her to tell Alirio the truth, but she said her reputation was at stake. After hiding him in the bathroom, she let Alirio into the room.

Alirio packed his bags, screaming, "I go until never!" When he headed for the bathroom, Nidi screamed and threw herself in front of the door (very subtle). Alirio went in and saw Juan pretending to fix the bathtub or some such thing. Alirio yelled, "Betrayal! Betrayal!" and called Juan a gigolo. He started running around breaking things.

Juan tried to reason with A-yellio, explaining why he was in Nidia's room. Alirio shouted, "Do you think I was born yesterday?" and finally socked Juan in the jaw. Nidia took Juan out of the room while Alirio yelled, "Coward! Chicken! If you want more, here I am!"

Nidia told Alirio only a pervert would think she could get involved with Juan, who was like a son to her. "I am a decent woman." She pretended to cry, saying she was humilliated. Alirio said, "You want me to leave, don't you?" Nidia said yes. Alirio shouted, "No! Now I'm staying! Don't think I'm going to leave the way free for you to live licentiously!" and started unpacking his bags.

Cesar Luis asked Monica if they could start over at zero. He asked her out to dinner and said maybe they could go dancing. Monica agreed and said, "I love you so much." Poor Monica.

Juan dressed up in his loudest outfit yet while Nidia told Marely and Yadira she "very much doubted" Paula would come to the house tonight.

When Juan knocked on Ana's door, Paula asked Ana to tell him she wanted Paula to stay home. Ana refused and went to bed. Paula opened the door and evaded Juan's kiss. Juan thought, "Ay, caray, bad start." Paula said, "So sorry, Juan, but I can't go out."

Juan lost his temper, saying he'd gone to a lot of trouble to arrange the evening. Paula said she had to help her mother prepare for her trip. Juan said, "Thanks for telling me!" Paula gave him a guilt trip about how much she would miss Ana.

Meanwhile Ana called Nidia and said Paula was "very confused and vulnerable." Apparently Nidia agreed to look after Paula. She said she would be an "example of conduct" to Paula -- ha!

Downstairs, Juan told Paula he understood and apologized to her. He said he wanted to talk to her mother before she left for her trip. Paula asked, "Why?" and Juan said, "To ask her for your hand."

Juan Querendon recap for Wednesday, October 10

I'm tired, so this post might not be written too clearly. I'll try to find time to clean it up tomorrow.

Juan asked Nidia if she thinks Paula is too good for him. Nidia said no but she doesn't know if Paula deserves a man like Juan. She warned him to think about what he was doing with his life.

Enrique told Yadira that she and Gutierrez make a beautiful couple. Yadira was annoyed and said Guti wasn't her boyfriend.

Paula, ever the liar, told Monica that her relationship with Cesar Luis was strictly business. "I could never get involved with a married man." Monica said she was relieved. She apologized to Evil Paula and said she considered Paula a great friend.

Cesar Luis told Chelo (the maid) that Monica had gone to the supermarket. Chelo was surprised, saying they went shopping just yesterday and bought everything they needed, and besides, Monica never went to the supermarket without her.

When Monica got home, Cesar L. quizzed her about where she had been. She claimed she had only gone to the supermarket, but he hounded her for the truth, saying he always told her everything (ha)!! Finally she admitted that she was with Paula.

I missed the next part of their conversation, but apparently she told him what she had discussed with Paula. Cesar L. berated her and Monica said she was only human. CL said their relationship didn't have much of a future because Monica didn't trust him. (WHAT A JERK!)

Marely asked Nidia if she was trying to set Yadira up with Guti because he had money. Nidia said, "I would never sell my daughter. You're offending me."

Yadira told Marely she had been trying to make Enrique jealous but it hadn't worked. Marely told Yadira not to chase him, "Love is something that happens or doesn't happen." Yadira cried and said she loved Enrique. Nidia overheard this.

Yad. asked about Marely's feelings for Juan. Marely declared, "I don't want to know anything about Juan Dominguez anymore. Nothing."

Juan told Enrique that Nidia and her family were skeptical about his relationship with Paula because they had expected him to marry Marely one day. I'm not sure but I think Enrique said something about Marely's feelings for Juan. Juan pointed at his boots and said something like, "These little boots leave their marks."

Juan and Enrique went to some sort of produce market and met a man named Angarida Garcia who owns 20 bodegas (not sure what that means in this context -- maybe 20 bars?) They discussed business and Angarida agreed to give them a chance. Juan thought that destiny had brought him to this man.

I still don't know exactly what kind of business Juan and Enrique are starting -- transporting food??? They got into a confrontation with a thug who seemed to think they were invading his turf. After the guy threatened them, Juan punched him in the mouth and challenged him to a fist fight. The guy said, "You really want me to deform your princess face?" but didn't seem very eager to fight. They had a brief scuffle, then security dragged the thug away. He told Juan he would come back for him later.

Nidia told Alirio to cancel their trip to Guti's ranch because Yadira never wanted to see Guti again. Aliro, as usual, protested vociferously. N. asked why he was so afraid of Guti. Alirio said Guti could still go to the police about the fixed will.

When Guti showed up, Marely told him Yadira never wanted to see him again. Alirio warned Nidia that Guti is "a snake, and very poisonous."

Paula told Ana about her meeting with Monica. Ana urged her to tell Monica the truth. Paula claimed her relationship with Cesar Luis was over. She refused to answer the phone, saying it was probably Juan and she didn't want to go to his house for dinner.

Juan and Enrique were pleased about their new business deal. They imagined themselves as rich 1920s-type swells, and Cesar Luis as a bum Juan hired to be his chauffeur. Cesar L. humbly thanked Juan, then told Enrique that he wished he could kiss Juan's hand. Very funny scene.

At episode's end, Cesar Luis went to Ana's house. Ana opened the door and glared at him while Paula stood in the background looking like an evil back-stabbing slut. Well, that's how she looked to me.

Juan Querendon recap for Tuesday, October 9

Before getting Paula on the couch, Cesar Luis said his marriage was definitely over, or words to that effect. When he called Paula's relationship with Juan "a circus," Paula jumped off the couch and said she had feelings for Juan. Cesar L. said, "This guy isn't for you, and we both know it."

Paula retorted that Juan was a man who knew how to surprise a woman, and not the way Cesar Luis did! They squabbled a little more and Cesar L. left her office.

Alirio brought Gutierrez (Guti) home to dinner. Nidia welcomed him, saying Yadira had been primping for him all day. She went upstairs to get Yadira, who asked if Nidia was sure Enrique was coming tonight, too. Nidia said yes.

Downstairs, Marely coldly told Guti that Yadira didn't like him. Alirio insisted that Yadira had told him otherwise. Yadira came downstairs dressed in a skirt even shorter than Paula's and wowed Guti.

Juan and Enrique's teacher gave the class a test and told them they had half an hour to complete it. The class grumbled. Juan stood up and said half an hour wasn't enough. The teacher asked, "Oh, you speak for everyone now?"

Juan prayed, "Free us, Lord, from a woman scorned!" He looked to the class for support, but no one (including Enrique) said anything. The teacher said thanks to Senor Dominguez's interruption, the class now had only 20 minutes to do the test!

After class, Juan called Enrique a coward for not speaking up. Enrique said yes, that's why he didn't speak up, because he is a coward.

Back at Nidia's dinner table, Guti offered to organize a trip to his ranch for the whole family. Alirio enthusiastically agreed.

Juan arrived with Enrique, who wasn't happy to see Guti with Yadira. Nidia took Enrique into her office and told him Guti was an "important person" who was interested in Yadira. She said Enrique must be jealous, because "where a fire was, embers remain," but Enrique denied it.

He asked why Nidia had invited him over. Nidia said she couldn't remember why. She stood up to leave, saying she had to go back to her yerno (son-in-law), then pretended that oops! she hadn't meant to say that. Enrique looked insanely jealous.

The next day at breakfast, Monica told Cesar Luis that their marriage was crumbling and she thought he was in love with Paula. He, of course, denied it, saying he didn't get along with Paula, that Monica was the one who always wanted to talk about Paula. He asked if Monica was convinced that she was imagining things. Monica said, "Maybe." Cesar Luis stormed out of the room.

It must be the weekend because Paula is wearing her sweater. The one that actually covers all her assets. Anyway, Ana coldly asked about her new ring. Paula admitted it was a gift from Juan, "We are novios." Ana said sarcastically, "How romantic." Paula insisted that she felt "something special" for Juan, more than friendship, there was an attraction between them. Ana repeated that Paula was just using Juan.

Paula asked Ana to give her a little time to work things out. Ana retorted that she was going to Monterrey tomorrow and would be gone for a week or more. She said they could use that time apart to think so they wouldn't end up hating each other. Paula hugged her. Ana thawed out a little but was obviously still angry.

Monica called Paula and said she had to speak to her, it was urgent. Paula agreed to meet her.

Juan arrived at the Cachon breakfast table in a sleeveless shirt (why is it only cold at Paula's house?) and made a big point of showing off his tattoo to the whole family. Marely, of course, was upset. Yadira looked grim, as always. Juan said he and Paula were in love and would be together forever. Alirio was skeptical. Nidia told Juan, "Forever is a long time. Better be careful."

Juan asked for permission to bring Paula to the house as his future wife. He was surprised that they didn't immediately agree. But then Nidia said of course, "This is your home and you can bring your friends here."

Later Juan went into Marely's room to ask why she was crying. She said it wasn't about the ring, "I always knew that wasn't for me." Juan begged her to tell him what was wrong. For a moment it looked as if Marely was going to tell him the truth about Paula, but she just asked him to leave so she could study.

Nidia caught him in the hallway and asked what he was doing in her daughter's room again. Juan said he would never betray his love for Paula. Nidia seemed to let him go with a warning, then went to comfort Marely. She told Marely, "Right now everything has the color of ant" (??? color de hormiga) but things would get better.

Juan called Paula and invited her and Ana to Nidia's house for dinner. Paula was dismissive, as always, telling him to call her again in the afternoon.

Monica told Cesar L. she was going to the "super" (I suppose that means supermarket). He said he might go to work for an hour. As soon as Monica left, he tried to call Paula. Presumably he got no reply because Paula had already left to meet Monica.

Nidia told Yadira that Juan and Paula had no future together. Yadira demanded to know why Nidia said that, but Nidia wouldn't tell her. Yadira fretted because she hadn't heard from Enrique. Nidia asked if Yadira liked Guti even a little, but Yadira said no, and she didn't want to go to his stupid ranch.

On the landing, Nidia met Juan and asked, "Are you sure this engagement is best for you? Does Paula feel the same about you?"

Meanwhile, Monica and Paula were eating in a restaurant together. Monica said, "I have problems with Cesar Luis." Paula said that had nothing to do with her. (LIAR!!) Monica asked, "Are you and Cesar Luis lovers?"

Juan Querendon recap for Monday, October 8

Note: I'm not going to do this regularly (no time), but for the next week or so I will be writing recaps of "Yo Amo a Juan Querendon" for my grandmother, so I might as well post them here on the blog for anyone else who might enjoy them!

I'm doing these quickly and I'm not good with all the slang on this show, so apologies in advance for any mistakes.

Juan boasted to Enrique about being Paula's novio (official boyfriend). Enrique called Juan his "hero" and his "idol." Juan said he wanted to prove himself to Paula by going to school and getting a good career.

Paula told Marely she cares about Juan, likes him, but doesn't feel the same as he feels about her. Marely urged her to tell Juan the truth, but Paula said all she can think about is her anger at Cesar Luis, which makes her do things she later regrets. She can't stand to break Juan's heart.

Meanwhile, Juan hinted to Enrique that he and Paula would marry. He daydreamed that they were telling Ana about their engagement, that Juan had signed some big business deals, that they were going to build their dream house and wanted Ana to live with them.

Monica went home to the apartment and told Chelo (the maid) that she thinks Cesar Luis is in love with Paula because he gets so upset at any mention of Paula's relationship with Juan. Chelo asked if anything is going on between Cesar L. and Paula. Monica said she doesn't think so because Paula is a "serious woman" (ha!) and in love with Juan.

Pastor met Gomez for lunch. Gomez reminded Pastor that he bought his mother's house with Farell company money. Pastor asked if Gomez intended to blackmail him. Gomez said no, but Alirio did. Pastor was shocked. He asked Gomez if he was going to tell Alirio that Pastor was his accomplice. Gomez said, "Things have changed since I left Farell. I'm short on cash. We'll have to renegotiate our deal."

Ana told Nidia that Juan is in love with Paula, but Paula is only using him to make Cesar Luis jealous. Nidia said men like Cesar L. should be locked up. Ana said she was worried about Juan and asked Nidia to open his eyes about Paula.

Fernando tried to help Juan with his homework, but Juan said he couldn't concentrate because he was thinking about Paula. They had a squabble. Enrique admonished Juan, saying Fernando is the only one who can help them.

Before leaving work, Marely congratulated Juan on giving Paula the ring. Juan was pleased for a moment, then embarrassed because he realized Marely had recognized the ring (the same one he gave her). He tried to talk to Marely but she left without listening.

By the way, it turns out Marely is also attending night classes, because Juan asked if she was going to school and she said not today, she doesn't have the energy.

Juan went into Paula's office to ask her out. She said she had to work late and would take a taxi home. Before Juan left, he surprised Paula by kissing her. After he left, she smiled as if pleased by the kiss.

Cesar L. angrily told Pastor that everyone in the office was staring at him (Cesar L) as if he were a circus monkey. He accused Pastor of spreading stories about him and Paula. Pastor denied it and said Paula had been making a public spectacle of her relationship with Juan.

Juan got confused while explaining an equation to the class at school, but his teacher praised him anyway. Juan mused that she was crazy for him and the situation could become a nightmare.

After class, the teacher asked to speak to Juan. He tried to get Enrique to stay, too, but the teacher threw Enrique out of the room, then asked Juan to go out with her. Juan asked his "papa little God" why the teacher was so irresistible, but managed to turn her down, saying he was committed to someone else and wanted to remain faithful and loyal. The teacher glared at him.

Juan told Enrique that the teacher was angry, but said they wouldn't fail the class because the Sainted Child of Atocha would help both of them.

Pastor admitted to Ivonne that he bought his house, car, and a European vacation with his ill-gotten gains. If he's found out, he'll go straight to jail and die there of fear. He said his mother would also die, adding, "Imagine the shame." He begged Ivonne to help him figure out what to do. She told him to go home and rest so he can think about it tomorrow.

After everyone else left work, Cesar L. went to Paula's office and invited her out for a drink. She refused. He said she was afraid her real feelings would betray her, then said he had made "unforgiveable mistakes" but he truly loved her. He began kissing her and Paula of course went along with it. They ended up on the couch together. Cesar L. said he would prove that her love for Juan was "nothing more than a circus."

Meanwhile Fernando, who apparently came upstairs to see if Cesar L. wanted a ride home, looked through the glass on the office door and saw them together. Uh oh. Will he tell Juan?
