I'm trying to learn Spanish by watching telenovelas. Please share your comments about the shows, too. I know I'm not the only English-speaking person who's hooked on telenovelas!

Heridas de Amor - Episode 56

Bertha gave Renata some money for a honeymoon.

Gabino called Miranda and said all the phones at the hacienda have been destroyed. (He was calling from Fabricio's phone.)

Bertha told Cesar she wants to buy shares in Gonzalo's company (from Luciano, presumably). Cesar objected, saying, "Do you think I'm going to lose the pleasure" of destroying Gonzalo's business, "of course not."

Lisania was sulky at breakfast. Daira asked her what was wrong and Lisania answered rudely. Alejandro told her not to speak to her mother that way. Lisania thought, "Cesar is right. Those two aren't going to interfere in my life. Never again."

Carola told Juan she loves him. Juan said, "I wish you will soon find someone who will make you happy." Carola said, "The only one who can make me happy is you, Juan."

Alejandro asked the banker who spread the false story about his uncle (the priest Santiago), "Yes, or no, was it Bertha de Aragon?" The banker insisted that he can't remember.

Miranda burst in and was upset to see Alejandro with Luciano, asking why Alejandro is friends with someone who's trying to destroy her father's business. Alejandro gave her some excuse and Miranda calmed down. Miranda asked the banker, "Why won't you give a line of credit to the San Lorente family?"

Renata arrived at Juan's house for the wedding. Juan said he had something for her and she asked, "Is it my ring?" He said yes. Veronica snickered loudly at it. Then Juan told Renata that Amparo had a surprise for her. Amparo produced the wedding dress and Veronica started laughing again. Renata burst into tears at the sight of the dress, but excused herself by saying, "The dress is very pretty."

Renata put the dress on, then told Veronica and Erika, "The dress is very pretty, but for my servant!" Amparo overheard this and told herself, "Don't cry, don't cry."

Veronica looked around the house and sneered, "All of this is smaller than your bedroom!" Amparo thought, "Enjoy your comments, because soon you are going to be taken down a peg."

Gonzalo visited Rebeca and yelled, "Julio has a right to know Cesar and Fabricio are his sons!" Rebeca said she'll tell Julio soon, begging Gonzalo to give her a little time. Julio arrived and said, "I don't know why Rebeca is crying, but I don't like to see her suffer. Get out, Gonzalo."

Gonzalo said he and his father helped Julio a lot and he'll never forgive Julio for betraying him. He said, "This is the last time I'm coming to this house."

Julio said yes, he owes Gonzalo a lot, they used to be friends, but Gonzalo changed after he broke up with Fernanda, and he made everyone else pay. Gonzalo said, "Don't invent stories to justify all you've done!" then left.

Miranda told Alejandro she's going to sell her car, and maybe also Renata and Florencia's cars, to get money to keep the hacienda going.

During the wedding ceremony, Renata was asked if she would take Juan to be her husband. She said, "No! I can never live in a place like this. I am accustomed to more in life than you can give me." Juan said he would make a lot of money as a doctor, and Renata demanded, "When? In twenty years? Thirty? I'm sorry, I'm sorry."

But it turned out that Renata was just imagining this scene. She said yes, she would marry Juan. Afterward Juan told her, "This is the happiest day of my life. I promise, you will never regret it."

Bertha told Lucas (the dog) that she'll have to sell Alfredo Luque's jewelry designs to raise the money to buy the shares in San Lorente Investements. She opened Alfredo's portfolio, found some hidden papers inside and read them, looking surprised and delighted.
