I'm trying to learn Spanish by watching telenovelas. Please share your comments about the shows, too. I know I'm not the only English-speaking person who's hooked on telenovelas!

Heridas de Amor - Episode 67

Amparo told Fernanda, "Guess what? Renata is going to make dinner." She also told Fernanda about the money Renata gave her for food. Fernanda said, "Renata is not a bad person! Bertha couldn't corrupt her soul."

Alejandro told Daira, "Lisania is being manipulated. Her attitude is not normal." Luciano arrived and told them Bertha has the right to claim their entire fortune (due to the will she found in Alfredo's portfolio). Alejandro exclaimed, "It can't be!"

Charo told Fernanda that she gave Tomasa's papers to Santiago, and that Bertha and the dog weren't really in the kitchen when Tomasa fell to her death.

Miranda called Alejandro and told him about the visit of the man with the deformed hand, known as "the Guapo" (the handsome). She said she didn't know how he got into the house because no one let him in.

Miranda also said, "Don't tell anyone, but we're all returning to Mexico City tomorrow" and she wants to marry Alejandro immediately. She had a premonition that if she doesn't marry him now, she never will. Alejandro agreed to the hasty wedding, then told Luciano and Daira that he has to delay his trip to Europe to see Bertha.

Roman asked Cesar, "If you're working for Gonzalo, why doesn't he know anything I told you?" He pulled a gun and (I think) warned Cesar not to bother Amparo's family or Fernanda again. Then he gave Cesar his report on Nuria, saying, "She is the natural daughter of Bertha de Aragon."

Cesar said to himself, "Nuria is Bertha's illegitimate daughter, and only I know." He called someone (Sanson?) and I think(?) he said he wants someone killed.

Francisco told his family that he's about to buy their first car. Everyone was excited except Renata, who was surprised that they'd never owned a car. She asked Amparo if Francisco is always so happy, then started to tell Amparo, "I want you to help me convince Juan --" but Francisco interrupted before Renata could finish.

Francisco hugged Renata and said she's like a daughter to him. Renata remembered Gonzalo's harsh treatment of her and thought, "I never want to go back to you." She served dinner and the family said her cooking was delicious. For the first time, Renata seemed happy.

Nati told Miranda that cocolbosh is in the heart, it's an "effect women have on chocolate." Miranda said it's hard to believe in such things in 2006.

Florencia arrived and said, "I am bleeding! Something is happening to the baby." Fabricio raced to town to get a doctor.

Miranda called Fernanda, who told Renata that Florencia may be having a miscarriage. Renata begged Fernanda to save her sister. Fernanda said she can't promise anything but "I would give my life to save Florencia and the baby."

Renata called Alejandro, who said he'll immediately take a helicopter to the hacienda.

Lisania told Cesar that Bertha has her father's old will, giving her control of his entire fortune. Her father intended to give it to Fernanda on the night he was shot. Cesar asked why he didn't later invalidate the will. I think Lisania said he didn't think it necessary because he'd left the line for the beneficiary blank.

Cesar reflected to himself that Nuria is Bertha's daughter, so all Bertha's money will go to Nuria, "my little girl."

Huh? Nuria is Bertha's daughter? Do you think that's for real or some story that Bertha concocted? If it's real then that would make Tomasa Bertha's mother (and Fernanda's mother) or the mother of the Nuria's father. Do we know who he is yet?

I don't think it's been explained yet, but I am guessing Bertha had an affair with one of Tomasa's sons, resulting in Nuria. It explains why Bertha was able to take Nuria away from her grandmother with no consequences -- I thought that was strange.
